Jon, Melissa and I first met over coffee at the NoMad Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Jon and I had already become acquainted through his lighting company’s Instagram. I was lucky enough to catch their eye and over the course of discussions about their awesome product, he learned that aside from my commercial work I also shoot weddings. It ended up being a professional match made in heaven. They were looking for someone who would fit their aesthetic; Melissa a wardrobe stylist and Jon being an industry-insider with a keen eye and a lot of photographer friends. And they needed someone willing and able to travel to New York for their big day. A cup of coffee sealed the deal.
A bride with style…
Melissa had some big shoes to fill for her wedding-weekend garb. As soon as I walked in for the rehearsal dinner at Uva, I knew she was going to blow us away with her series of incredible wardrobe changes. Elegant and regal, Melissa’s choices were timeless and glowing with that special WOW factor. She worked closely with L’ezu Bridal Atelier to create 3 one-of-a-kind pieces: one for the rehearsal, one wedding dress and one wedding suit creation for the reception. I was completely blown away.
Melissa and Jon thought of everything for their big day with the help of a fantastic wedding planner, Jesse Reing. Designing absolutely everything from the dresses to the florals; centerpieces and eye-catching hanging table pieces, to a tiered black cake and OMG the food! With help from a solid team of vendors, everything was done in their style, set to the Manhattan skyline, stories up surrounded by windows at The Glasshouses.
Their wedding had a comfortable intimacy and magic that only the best kind of parties do. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, dressed to the nines, full with amazing Jamaican food and good conversation we danced the night away and sealed this union with generous celebration.
